Scrabble at the senior center, Feb. 21
The Healdsburg Senior Center hosts a weekly scrabble session every Thursday. This next session is on Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon. The drop-in event is free. The senior center is located at 133 Matheson St.
Indivisible Healdsburg’s next Mingle to Make a Difference, Feb. 21
Indivisible’s next event will focus on Medicare for All and ongoing efforts to have an impact on important upcoming elections. Attendees will also be writing letters to voters who’ve moved to remind them to re-register. The event is on Feb. 21 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church Hall, 209 W. Matheson Street, Healdsburg.
Tween craft class: Felted soap, Feb. 22
The Healdsburg Regional Library is hosting a teen craft class on Friday, Feb. 22 from 4 to 5 p.m. Tweens will get to learn how to create their very own, scented felt soap with colored wool. The event is free and materials will be provided. The class is suitable for kids in grades 4 to 6. The library is located at 139 Piper St.
Healdsburg Love Run, Feb. 23
This annual 5K race takes place on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. The race helps supports “Live Like Drew,” also known as the Drew Esquivel Scholarship, which supports student/athletes from the Healdsburg area in their dream to attend college. This year the race will feature a route through the warehouse district and starts at 333 Center St. in Healdsburg. Registration is $30. Kids 12 and under are free. Red carpet evening with the Alexander Valley Film Festival, Feb. 24
The Alexander Valley Film Festival is hosting a red carpet evening and a screening of the Oscars on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 4 to 10 p.m. The event will also feature a fundraising gala and a silent auction. Proceeds will go to Alexander Valley Film Society’s educational and cultural programs. Tickets are $225 and can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/2GsqPe3. The event is a black tie event and takes place at Soda Rock Winery at 8015-CA 128, Healdsburg.
Healdsburg Unified School District special town hall, Feb. 25
The HUSD will hold a special town hall meeting to discuss equity in schools on Monday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Healdsburg High School cafeteria. Students, parents and teachers are encouraged to come and share their experience with Healdsburg schools at this open meeting lead by the National Equity Task Force. The event is free and takes place at 1024 Prince Ave.
Planning commission meeting, Feb. 26
The Healdsburg Planning Commission will meet for its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at Healdsburg City Hall at 401 Grove St. All are welcome to attend the open session portion of the meeting.
Coffee with the City, Feb. 27
Residents will have a chance to talk with city officials at the relaunched Coffee with the City event on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Healdsburg Senior Center. Bring questions or come to hear what is going on at the city. All are welcome to attend this free event. Coffee and tea will be provided. The senior center is located at 133 Matheson St.
Living with Lions, Feb. 27
The Dry Creek Valley Association will present a “Living with Lions” talk with Quinton Martins, director of the project and wildlife ecologist, and trapper, with Audubon Canyon Ranch. Participants will learn about the wild mountain lion neighbors, the latest trapping, and see the tracking of their territories in Sonoma County. The event is free, but registration is required.
