Five Healdsburg athletes competed in the Ukiah Triathlon held on
Sept. 10. The triathlon included a half-mile swim, 21.8-mile bike
and finished with a three-mile run. Below are the results for those
local athletes.
Travis Carranza (21) placed first in the men¹s 20-24 division.
His total time was 1:37:11. Carranza, a former HHS standout, is a
top swimmer at SRJC and for the Neptune swim team. He¹s also a
lifeguard at the Healdsburg Pool.
David Buchan (25) also placed first among men 25-29 years old
with a time of 1:36:23. Buchan, a former Neptune swimmer, is
currently working on his master¹s degree.
Brooke Walsh (15) took fourth overall among young women 15-19
years old. Her combined time was 2:25:44. Brooke is currently a
Neptune swimmer, lifeguard at the city pool, Vice President of her
HHS junior class and is the captain of her soccer team.
Don Walsh (14) captured second among young men in the 7-14 years
old division. His aggregate time was 2:10:08. Don is a sophomore at
HHS and is on the JV Football team. He is also on the Neptune swim
team.
Cameron Tyson (27) placed sixth in the men¹s 25-29 division. His
time was 2:02:16. Tyson is the coach of the Neptune swim team and
manager of the city pool.
