She was born at home in Cunningham, near Sebastopol to the late
Carl H. and Sadie E. Garloff. She attended Mount Vernon and Gold
Ridge Elementary Schools. She later took the old
Petaluma/Sebastopol street car into Sebastopol to attend Analy High
School. In 1940, she married Chester Elphick and later moved to
Petaluma. Mr. Elphick died in 1945. She married William C. Beffa on
May 4, 1946. Mr. Beffa preceded his wife in death in January, 1996,
just a few months before their 50th wedding anniversary. She was at
one time an avid sportswoman, joining her husband on many fishing
and deer hunting trips. After Mr. Beffa’s retirement, the couple
enjoyed spending the summers at Hat Creek, near Lassen National
Park. A housewife most of her adult life, Mrs. Beffa will always be
remembered as a kind, gentle woman, a devoted wife and adored
mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Beffa is survived
by her daughters Carlyn Clark and Linda Gallagher, both of
Petaluma; son-in-law John Gallagher; grandchildren Debbie Gallagher
of South Lake Tahoe, Stephen Gallagher of of Fort Collins, CO,
Sandi McCurdy, Timmy Snowden, and Jeff Snowden, all of Santa Rosa;
six great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her brother, Franklin Garloff, of
Sebastopol, and grandsons, Frank and James Snowden. At her request,
no services were held. The family prefers memorial contributions be
