Harlan Howard, 91, passed away in Windsor on January 31, 2005.
He was the loving husband of 69 years to Lena Howard; father and
father-in-law of Harlene and Joel Wright of Healdsburg; grandfather
of Sandy Houtman and Steve Wright, both of Princeton;
great-grandfather of Paul, Shawna and David Wright, and Michael
Houtman. Harlan was preceded in death by his sister Alice (Whitman)
Stuart. Harlan was born in 1913 in Milan, New Hampshire. He moved
to California in 1924, met and married Lena Baldi on the Wohler
Ranch where he worked during the hops years. They lived in Fort
Bragg from 1935 to 1941 until the beginning of World War II. During
the war they moved to Healdsburg and he worked at Mare Island. He
spent the rest of his life farming both here and in Redwood Valley.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Friends are invited to attend
a celebration of Harlan’s life on Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 11
a.m. at Santa Rosa Memorial Park in Santa Rosa. Memorial donations
to VNA Hospice or the charity of your choice would be
appreciated.
