Event includes 720 players on 72 teams
Windsor will be the epicenter of North Bay youth basketball this weekend, as an estimated 720 boys and girls will play in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Catholic Youth Organization’s 7th annual Fall Tip-Off TournaÂment.
It is held as a joint venture of fun with the Town of Windsor’s Recreation & Parks Department. This year’s tournament is bigger than ever. The 15 bracket format has expanded to 72 teams with 106 games being played over the two days. Boys and girls in third-sixth grades will be playing.
OLG has 17 teams participating. The other 55 teams will be coming from as far south as Larkspur and Ukiah to the north. Basketball games will be played at six venues around town. Windsor High School, Boys and Girls Club, Windsor Middle School, Cali Calmecac L.A. and Huerta Gym will all be used. Games will be played 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The tournament is OLG CYO Basketball’s sole fundraiser. Tournament proceeds go toward program fees, uniforms and scholarships to families in need. Funds will also be given to the Town of Windsor’s teen programs.
The Fall Tip-Off TournaÂment gives teams a chance to prepare for the upcoming North Bay CYO season. For more tournament information please contact OLG CYO Athletic Director Rich Ruybalid at in**@ol**************.org.
