The Analy Tigers are the repeat champions of the Sonoma County League, clinching the 2016 crown last week with wins over Piner and Healdsburg to extend their unbeaten league record to 10-0 and 14-2 overall.
The Tigers will finish up league play with upcoming home and away dates against visiting El Molino (Tuesday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.) and at Sonoma Valley (Oct. 27, 7 p.m.).
Meanwhile the Lions (4-5-1, 9-5-2) also recorded a pair of wins last week, giving the team added momentum for a possible North Coast Section playoff berth. El Mo will close out the season with road games at Healdsburg (Oct. 18, after press time) and at Analy (Oct. 25).
“Overall the girls are doing well and have learned to battle every game,” El Mo head coach Emily Farrant reported.
For the Tigers, the title clinching wins over two lower division teams was expected, and the team is already looking ahead to a postseason run.
“Overall it was a good week, but the games also opened our eyes to the fine tuning we need to work on prior to NCS,” coach Brittney Briones said.

Analy had no trouble getting past either opponent last week, beginning with an Oct. 11 home date with Piner. The Tigers got goals from Tannin Klunis, Bella Niedermair, Kaitlyn Lane and Amanda Nebozuk in powering to a 4-1 win.
On Thursday, the Tigers took on Healdsburg, benefiting from a hat-trick by Niedermair (3), along with goals from Nebozuk, Laney Klunis and Emily Gritsch. Assists went to Ana Hernandez, Laney Klunis, Nebozuk and Macee Wacholz.
“The girls did a great job of passing to feet, played great defense and were often first to the ball,” Briones noted.
Lions notch wins
El Molino had the luxury of playing two beatable teams in Elsie Allen and Piner last week, but came out a bit flat in the Oct. 11 meeting with the Lobos. The Lions did just enough, getting scores from Lily Dittman and Chloe Kliegl to notch a 2-1 win.
El Mo squared off with Piner two nights later, as Dittman tallied a pair of goals, while Kliegl and Kristine Daniels added one apiece en route to a 4-2 win.
“We played very poorly against Elsie Allen and had a decent game against Piner,” Farrant said citing the absence of key players Hayley Sheridan and leading scorer Carly Hittenmiller due to injury.
