Students from the MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán, or Chicanx Student Movement of Aztlán) Club at Geyserville New Tech Academy got together on Saturday, April 1, in honor of César Chávez to make tortas (sandwiches) for farm workers and day laborers.
This is an annual event where students buy food, chips and water with their own funds to give back to the workers who make an impact in our community but are often underrepresented.
The “Mechistas” (pictured above) also got to meet County Supervisor James Gore. The club thanks Mr. Fernandez for his assistance.
