St. Patrick’s Day – occasionally known as “Amateur Night” to the Irish, starts early in Healdsburg next Friday, March 17.
The annual B&B Lounge St. Patrick’s Day parade festivities begin at 6 a.m. at Sanderson Ford, 453 Healdsburg Avenue and the parade begins at 7 a.m.
Paradegoers typically march around the downtown Plaza and return to the B&B, Costeaux French Bakery or John & Zeke’s tavern, which are all open early.
The Healdsburg Rotary clubs will convene at Costeaux for a morning of fun and fundraising.
The B&B and John & Zeke’s serve food in the afternoon.
Healdsburg Bar & Grill (HBG) gets into the spirit as well, with its annual “Drink for the Dogs” benefit for Green Dog Rescue Project.
The HBG event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and includes live traditional Irish folk music, raffle prizes, drink specials and house smoked corned beef.
h2hotel’s Spoonbar will celebrate that day from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Throughout the night, guests can enjoy Spoonbar’s Irish Coffees along with other festive cocktails and a special shepherd’s pie. Proceeds made from every Irish Coffee purchased plus 10 percent of the total check will go to the Healdsburg Education Foundation. At 6:30 p.m., an Irish dance troop will perform to traditional Irish music to add to the festivities.
One can start early as well. This Saturday, March 11, the annual “Jiggs and Maggie” corned beef and cabbage dinner takes place at the Geyserville Oddfellows Lodge in downtown Geyserville.
Tickets can be purchased at Bosworth & Sons in Geyserville, by searching brownpapertickets.com, or at the door. The dinner is from 5 to 8 p.m. and there will be live music and a bar.
