You may think the Healdsburg Library is just books and
magazines. When you think of a library program you think of a kids
program or storytime. While we have great kids programs including
some innovative Lego stuff coming up, I want to shift focus and
change that impression. We have a galaxy of programs coming this
fall to show the library is a vital happening venue for concerts,
lectures, readings and book clubs for adults.
We have a vibrant fall lineup of adult programs coming to the
Healdsburg Library. We have musicians, writers, dancers, talks and
an art show that showcases Healdsburg’s history. They are all free,
and we have the generosity of the Friends of the Healdsburg to
thank for paying for the performers for these wonderful and varied
events.
Classical Guitar Virtuoso
Let’s take them in chronological order. On Saturday, Sept. 24 at

undergraduate at Cal State Northridge, and pursued graduate studies
at the New England Conservatory of Music and at the Yale School of
Music. Steve studied in New England under Eliot Fisk, the last
direct pupil of Andres Segovia. Steve won first prize at the Boston
GuitarFest Competition and the East Carolina University Guitar
Competition. A recording artist for VGo Recordings, Steve has
released two CDs.
Volunteer Educator in the South Pacific
On Saturday, October 1, at 2 p.m., Bob Scavullo will give a talk
illustrated titled, “My Three Weeks Teaching Summer School in
Micronesia.” After a long and successful career in the computer
world, Bob retired several years ago, and kept busy tutoring some
exceptional and some at-risk students at San Francisco high
schools. Wanting to explore new horizons this year, Bob arranged to
teach mathematics at a Jesuit high school in the South Pacific.
Come learn about the exotic and interesting place where Bob taught:
Chuuk, a complex atoll in the heart of Micronesia and also the
largest state in the Federated States of Micronesia 650 miles south
of Guam.
