Atlantic wines
The last few years, the Wine Library Associates of Sonoma County and the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association have teamed up to bring a taste of the Eastern United States to the West Coast. It provides a great opportunity to try award-winning wines that you wouldn’t otherwise. It’s that time again!
Friday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m., come to the Healdsburg Library and Sonoma County Wine Library to experience some of the top wines from back East. The evening will begin with a tasting through six wines, guided by master wine educator Dave Barber of Cooper Winery (Virginia). Dave is preparing something new this year, so if you’ve attended before, it should be a fresh experience again! Following the guided tasting, attendees will proceed to another part of the Library for a fabulous array of different wines accompanied by small bite appetizers.
The cost for this event is $15 for Wine Library Associates members; the public pays $25, which includes a new membership in the Associates. Students get a special deal—$10, bring ID for age and student status. Call 707-433-1660 for reservations!
Perhaps you are wondering what kinds of wine you will find there? Among the many wines finding success on that side of the country, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, and Viognier are some of the vitis vinifera examples, but I think you will be interested to try some Chambourcin and other French American Hybrids and native vines.
Many thanks go out to Anne Vercelli, who needs very little introduction around here—with her connections at Costeaux, SRJC Culinary Arts, the Harvest Fair, the SF Chronicle Tasting… her leadership and assistance on this event each year are greatly appreciated. Finally, don’t hesitate to call soon, because this event usually sells out! We’ll see you there.
