Francis Nelson Branern, 91, passed away in Tennessee on Tuesday,
December 21, 2004. He was a lifetime resident of Healdsburg. He is
preceded in death by his parents William N. Branern and Ida Mae
Nelson Branern. He was a graduate of Healdsburg High School, and a
veteran of World War II. He retired from Dillingham Corporation. He
was a lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club, and was also a lifetime
member of the Knights of Pythians. He was a past member of the
Healdsburg Planning Commission, and past president of the
Healdsburg Museum. His favorite charities were the American Cancer
Society and the Guide Dogs for the Blind. He loved to travel, and
have coffee with his friends at Flaky Cream doughnut shop every
morning. Mr. Branern was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by
his wife Viola Cummings Branern; step-children John Cummings of
Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Amy J. Camillo of Hampton, Tennessee;
nine step-grand-children, including Bob and Bill Kray of Concord.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and
emergency staff that provided care for Mr. Branern. A memorial
service will be announced at a later date. He will be very missed
and was very loved by all who knew him.
