The Forestville Youth Park BBQ and Parade has been rescheduled
for June 11 and 12. This Forestville tradition raises most of the
money that is necessary to keep the non-profit Forestville Youth
Park in working order. The Forestville Youth Park is one of the
only parks west of the Rockies that is privately owned and operated
and depends solely on fundraising efforts such as the annual BBQ,
donations and memberships to keep it going. On Saturday, June 11 at
10 a.m., the parade will start at the corner of Front and 1st
streets and then travel up Mirabel Road ending at the park. The
theme for this year’s parade is “Flower Power.”A seasoned group of
volunteers will once again be busy cooking BBQ chicken, steak, ribs
and oysters, as well as vegetarian pasta options and plenty of
other foods like garlic fries, hot dogs and pie and ice cream will
be offered as well along with fine Sonoma County wines and beer.
Admission to the Forestville Youth Park BBQ is free and live music
and good food are sure to attract a large crowd. Five bands are
scheduled for the weekend with the DanSon Morgan Trio kicking off
the music both days from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wonderbread 5 will
play on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. followed by the Pointlyss Sistars
from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday will feature local blues band Phenix from 1
to 4 p.m. followed by the Old Boot Band from 5 to 8 p.m. The
carnival starts Friday, June 10 at 3 p.m. and continues on Saturday
and Sunday. For more information, go to the event website at
