Eagles will visit St. Vincent in opener on Saturday
Things didn’t go as planned for the Eagles in the league football finale against visiting St. Helena on Friday, but the 34-14 loss to the Saints may prove just a bump in the road as Cloverdale gets set for the most important phase of the season.
Following a third place NCL-1 finish and a 6-4 overall record, the Eagles were awarded the eighth seed in the North Coast Section Division-5 playoff tournament, which starts this weekend.
Cloverdale will open the postseason against a familiar foe, taking on ninth-seeded St. Vincent in Petaluma on Saturday, Nov. 15 in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
The Eagles scored a 28-7 victory over St. Vincent in a pre-season meeting on Sept. 6, but the Mustangs are riding a six-game win streak, including a 49-12 victory over Tomales to complete a perfect league campaign. Â
Should the Eagles get past St. Vincent, they will travel to take on number one seeded Salesian in Richmond on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
The complete list of NCS Division-5 teams in order of seeding is Salesian (8-2), St. Bernard (9-1), St. Helena (9-1), Middletown (7-3), Stellar Prep (7-3), John Swett (9-1), Berean Christian (5-5), Cloverdale (6-4), St. Vincent (6-4), California School for the Deaf (8-2), St. Patrick/St. Vincent (3-7), Valley Christian (4-6), and Tomales (7-3).
