The drains under Grove Street were overflowing, causing the road to close.

An intense and sometimes heated conversation at the Healdsburg Planning Commission meeting came to an abrupt halt due to flooding concerns.
At roughly 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, the meeting was stopped just as Grove Street closed at city hall. Fire Chief Jason Boaz came into the room a few minutes prior to the announcement to inform city staff.
The agenda item that drew so much passion from commission members and a large crowd as well was the North Entry Area Plan (NEAP).
The agenda item will continue at the commission’s next regular meeting on Tuesday, March 12.
The commission was to direct staff on several points of the NEAP, including requirements on affordable housing, which may be affected by an ordinance vote by Healdsburg City Council at its Monday, March 4 meeting.
The public comment on the project was mixed. A possible use of part of the site is a hotel, which was seen as both great for visiting friends and a burden on main issues the city already faces.
Senior living facilities was another land use among other issues brought up by the public.
The commission had made it to item four of five of staff recommendations on NEAP.
