The official filing period is open for Healdsburg residents seeking a seat on the city council in the June 6 special election.
A short-term seat is open following the resignation of councilmember Eric Ziedrich. The winner of the election will serve through 2018, when that seat will be open again for a four-year term.
Currently, five people have announced their intent to run for the seat. Gary Plass, who lost last November’s election but was appointed to Ziedrich’s seat as an interim measure, is running.
Former councilmember Leah Gold is running, along with former Community Housing Committee member Erica Whisney. Two previously unsuccessful council candidates, Rosie Fabian and Tim Meinken, have also announced.
The filing period remains open until March 10. More information about filing requirements and details are available through the Healdsburg City Clerk.
