Esther Witherell

Esther “Kitty” Witherell, 85, of Sebastopol, died on Dec. 16.
Born to Anna and Christian Smedegaard in Denmark in 1917, her
family moved to the U.S. in 1920, first to South Dakota then to
Oregon, where she graduated from high school. She attended Santa
Rosa Junior College and worked as a real estate agent starting in
’64. She and her husband, Robert, had a foster daughter, Leilani.
They owned Witherell Realty in Sebastopol. A member of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she was a Girl Camp leader
for 17 years.
