Ernest (Ernie) Galassi, 89, died peacefully at his Guerneville
residence on Jan. 5. He was born in Cumberland, WY and was raised
and educated in Superior, WY. Ernie was a fireman for the San
Francisco Fire Department Engine #25 for 28 years and a member of
the Carpenters and Musicians Unions. He served in the United States
Navy between 1940 and 1946 during World War II. He enjoyed
gardening, playing various instruments for special occasions and
was an avid recycler. He is survived by his wife of 63 years,
Elizabeth, children Peter of Port Orchard, WA, Paul of Novato,
David of Orinda, Michael of Santa Rosa, and Adele Westling of
Guerneville, 10 grandchildren, as well as three great
grandchildren, and his sister Violet Bahre of San Carlos. He is
preceded in death by sister Anita Maky and brother Peter. Donations
in his memory may be made to the American Red Cross.
