Elwood “Woody” Frank Keller died peacefully in his sleep Friday,
June 13, 2008. Age 93 years. Woody’s family moved to Sonoma County
in 1917. He graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1935, serving
as the president of the student body, member of the football team
and president of the Senior Class. Woody was a veteran of the
United States Navy during WWII, serving as a Chief Motor Machinists
Mate aboard the minesweeper, U.S.S. Token, AM-126, in the Pacific
Theater. He retired from the Arabian American Oil Co. (Aramco)
following a 21-year career as a foreman in the Drilling Department,
working in Saudi Arabia. Woody is survived by his loving wife of 58
years, Gloria Keller of Santa Rosa; son, Mike (Christina) Keller of
Windsor and their children, Austin, Ian, Caitlin and Sierra;
daughter, Andrea (Bob) Borowicz of Santa Rosa and their children,
Megan, Jordan, Nick and Tasha. He was a past member of Masonic
Lodge #882 (Saudi Arabia) and the Arabian Shrine Club. He enjoyed
woodworking, model trains, anything John Wayne and spending time at
the “Keller Ranch” on Sheephouse Creek. He will always be
remembered for his enduring sense of humor, gracious and kind heart
and for the love he had for his family. Known as “Pop” to his
grandchildren, Woody will be greatly missed by his wife, family,
and all who knew him.
