Elsie Catherine Harris – Advocate of education

Elsie Catherine Harris, age 98, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15,
2007 at her home in Sebastopol surrounded by her loving family. She
is predeceased by her husband James D. Harris. She was the loving
mother of James E. Harris (Carolyn), Arlene Leach (Herb) and the
late Margaret Trezos; beloved grandmother of Cindi, Kirk, Heidi and
Jim Harris; Greg, Denise and Teresa Trezos; Dalene and Herbie
Leach; great-Grandmother of 11, great-great-grandmother of one. She
is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Elsie was very involved in the community and education
throughout her life. She was a long-standing member of the PTA, the
Analy Boosters, The Rebeccas and Hessel Grange all while raising
not only her own children but her grandchildren as well. She was
honored by the school district for her efforts and was very proud
to have encouraged several generations of her family to graduate
from Analy and get an education.
She and her late husband were also the proud owners of Spring
Grove Creamery in Willits from the early 1930s until the early
1940s. Her other joys were spending time with her family,
gardening, the 49ers, and her beloved dog &#8220Bear.”
A celebration of Elsie’s life was held Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007
at 10 a.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary, Sebastopol.
