Ellen Jane Gilbert, Native of Ohio, never forgot anyone’s birthday

Ellen Jane Gilbert, 88, died peacefully at her Healdsburg home
after a long illness on January 19, 2005. Ellen was a native of
Toledo, Ohio, for 80 years. She is predeceased by her husband,
Albert W. Gilbert. She is survived by daughters Barbara Hull, Kathy
Adams, and Colleen Tobias; son Patrick Gilbert; sons-in-law Rick
Adams and David Tobias; daughter-in-law LaLi Hing Gilbert; sister
Betty Carlson; also survived by 16 grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. She
also loved and was most grateful to her devoted caregiver, Soko
Wright. Ellen was an alumnus of Notre Dame Academy in Toledo and
active member of the Ohio Democratic Women’s Society. She worked
for Spiegel Catalog for 20 years and then for the Lion Store of
Toledo before retiring at age 70. Ellen was a loving mother,
grandmother, aunt, and friend who gave great Christmases and is
admired for never forgetting anyone’s birthday. She will be missed
very much by all her family and many friends. Ellen will be brought
home and laid to rest in Toledo next to her husband during the
summer months. There will be a memorial in Healdsburg on February
5, 2005, at St. John The Baptist Church at 12 noon. Donations in
Ellen’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
