Cazadero native Ellen E. (Johnson) Elliot, 90, died at Kaiser
Hospital in Santa Rosa on the night of March 22 after a short
illness. Ellen was born in Cazadero, one of seven children born to
Frank and Anna Rika Johnson. Frank Johnson owned 1,400 acres in
Cazadero and ran his own timber mill. Ellen graduated from Santa
Rosa High in 1933 and raised all six of her children in Santa Rosa.
She never had a driver’s license, never smoked and walked from her
downtown Santa Rosa home to most locations. Ellen fondly remembered
the days of the Tower, Roxy and Cal Theaters and was heartsick over
the closing of Rosenburg’s Department Store where she frequently
shopped. After the passing of her husband, retired Santa Rosa
Assistant Fire Chief George C. Elliott, she began working as a
volunteer in the kitchen at the Salvation Army Silvercrest Senior
Residence in Santa Rosa. She worked tirelessly at Silvercrest for
more than 20 years. Her husband, George C. Elliott, her daughter,
Arlene Elliott, and many of her siblings precede her in death.
Ellen leaves behind her children Carol Lowery (Eddie) of Redding,
Sharon Girard (Darrell Courtright) of Jamestown, George C. Elliott
Jr. (Micheala) of Merced, Lucille Kubik (Dan) of Torrence and Brian
Elliott (Rhonda) of Cloverdale. Ellen is the proud Grandmother of
Michael Lowery (Vicky), Steven Lowery (Janine), Jeffery Lowery
(Michelle), Denise Kaminski (Joe), Jennifer Harris (Nolan), Carrie
Elliott, Ricky Madison (Kim), Rachel Elliott and Sean Elliott.
Ellen leaves behind many great grandchildren and great, great
grandchildren. Ellen has requested a private family memorial at 2
p.m. on April 2 at her home. Donations should be sent to the
Salvation Army in her name.
