Only a second-year wrestler, the Lions’ Hannah Ricioli is already the most accomplished wrestler in El Molino High School history.
The sophomore from Santa Rosa is ranked 13th nationwide in the 152-pound weight class by USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum, which recently published their National Girls High School rankings for the 2018-19 season. The ranking evaluates all girls grades 9-12 and includes athletes from 50 states.
The honor caps a remarkable season for Ricioli, who has been voted the Most Valuable Girls Wrestler in the North Bay League, Redwood Division. She ended the year with a 38-10 record, a Girl’s Redwood Division Team Championship Pennant, an Individual North Bay League Championship, a third place at North Coast Section and a sixth place in State in her weight class at the California Interscholastic Federation State Wrestling Championships in Bakersfield in February.
Ricioli gained national recognition when she took second in the Cadet and Junior age divisions at the CA-USA Wrestling Folkstyle State Tournament. She then went on to compete at the USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals in Oklahoma City, gaining All American status in two age divisions, finishing seventh in Cadet and eighth in Juniors.
