Edith K. Luzzi, 93, a resident of Healdsburg, passed away June
9, 2004 in Napa. She was the wife of the late Peter A. Luzzi;
mother and mother-in-law of Robert and Else Luzzi of Belmont;
grandmother of Stephan and Cindy Luzzi of Brisbane, Monica and
Wayne Mohn of San Francisco, Claudia and Michael DeBlauw of Napa,
John Peter, and Heather Luzzi of Grass Valley; and also survived by
her great-grandchildren Daniel, Michelle, Alexandra, Rick,
Giovanni, Jamie, Noelle and Erik. Edith, a native of Bloomfield,
was born December 7, 1910 to Gaetanno and Lena Maffia, both
immigrants from the Lake Como area of northern Italy. She lived all
her life in Sonoma County. While raising her son, she worked to
supplement the family income in the harvest of pears, apples, and
prunes, and worked in several fruit packing firms. She was a
parishioner at St. John’s Catholic Church, and belonged to the
Italian Catholic Federation and the VFW Auxiliary. Among other
things, she will be remembered as an excellent cook, especially for
her ravioli and gnocchi. Vigil Services were held on Monday, June
14, 2004 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Healdsburg. A
funeral mass was held at St. John’s on Tuesday, June 15, followed
by Committal Services at Oak Mound Cemetery. Donations in Edith’s
memory may be made to St. John’s School Fund.
