Jordyn Turner clubbed a homer and drove in five runs in the Lady Eagle's 13-0 win in the season softball opener against Calistoga last week.

It was a successful week on the diamond for Cloverdale High School softball and baseball teams, with each notching victories on the pre-league diamond.
The Lady Eagles opened the 2015 campaign in dominant fashion, powering to a 13-1 win over visiting Calistoga, while the varsity baseballers achieved a home split, combining a 2-0 win over Elsie Allen with a 2-0 loss to Lick Wilmerding.
Boys turn back Lobos  
Cloverdale (2-2) logged its second season win in a March 13 clash with visiting Elsie Allen, riding the arm of winning pitcher Greg Scaramella.  The Eagles mustered all the offense they would need in the third inning, pushing across a pair of runs in an eventual 2-0 shutout victory.
Pacing the Cloverdale offense were Pat Ojeda (2 for 3, 2B) and David Watson (2 for 3).
The Eagles were back in the friendly confines of City Park on March 14 against Lick Wilmerding, as the visitors touched starting pitcher Chris Harms for two runs in the first inning. Staked to an early lead, Lick Wilmerding hurler Joe O’Connell throttled the Cloverdale offense the rest of the way en route to a 2-0 Tigers win.
Accounting for the three   Eagles’ hits were Scaramella (1 for 3), Jared Hibbeln (1 for 3) and Scott Richardson (1 for 3).
Cloverdale will kick off the league schedule at home next Tuesday, March 24 in a 4 p.m. start against Clear Lake.
Softball eagles soar
It was all Cloverdale in the season opener against visiting Calistoga on March 10, pushing across a combined 12 runs in the first three frames in an eventual 13-1, five inning win.
Junior pitcher Teanne Edens was in mid-season form, logging a five-inning no-hit, no-run ballgame while fanning 12 in a terrific performance.
Leading hitters included Monica Lemley (4 for 4, HR, 2 2bs, 4 runs, 2 RBIs), Jordyn Turner (2 for 4, HR, 2 runs, 5 RBIs), Edens (2 for 2, 2 2Bs, 2 runs, RBI), Josie Marrufo (1 for 2, 2B, 2 RBIs), Sierra Morse (1 for 3, run, 2 RBIs), Shalynn Mancini (1 for 2, run), Bailey Stewart (1 for 4, run)  and Bailey Creager (1 for 3, run).
Next up for the ladies is a March 18 (after press time) meeting with visiting Windsor (4 p.m.), followed by the annual Cloverdale Tournament on March 27-28.  The Eagles will open the tourney on Saturday, March 20 in a 4 p.m. start against St. Mary’s. Cloverdale will kick off the NCL-1 season at home next Tuesday, March 24 against Clear Lake (4 p.m.).
