High school soccer season is in full swing for the Cloverdale boys and girls varsity teams, with both setting their sights on a winning campaign.
The varsity boys, led by coaches Carlos Jimenez, Francisco Soto and Jose Ruiz, have played some of their best ball of late with recent league wins over St. Helena (4-0) and Middletown (4-1) to push their NCL 1 record to 2-1 and 5-4 overall.
The team features seniors Ricardo Madrigal, Samuel Cholula, Irving Barron, Manuel Beltran, Carlos Mercado, Miguel Gonzalez and Jeremy Wilson. Juniors include Leo Lara, Ullses Ruiz, Luis Vargas, Miguel Carrillo-Vazquez and Bryan Lopez. Sophomores are Omar Reyes, Johann Romero, Chris Lopez and Aristides Orellana. Freshmen include Emmanuel Gonzalez-Sanchez, Alexis Leyva and Jose Vazquez.
The Eagles will resume league action on Sept. 18 (after press time) at Kelseyville and will host Fort Bragg this Thursday, Sept. 20. Both games start at 4 p.m. Cloverdale will visit Clear Lake next Tuesday, Sept. 25 in a 5:30 p.m. start. 
Ladies rounding into form
The varsity girls squad, led by head coach Jesus Sanabria and assistant coaches Lupita Vargas and Miguel Barron, are also in the midst of a competitive season.
Cloverdale is off to a 1-2 record in league, combining a 3-0 win over Willits with recent losses to St. Helena (3-1) and Middletown (5-2).
The roster includes seniors Marifer Ramirez, Julisa Pulido, Cassondra Bassett, Roxanna Jimenez, Kayli Persons, Ana Cardenas and Yatziri Ruiz. Juniors are Andrea Gonzalez, Maria Fernandez, Morgan Sceales and Yunuen Sanchez. Sophomores are Ruby Lindelof, Grace Messenger, Carmen Santos, Jasmin Farias-Mendoza, Selena Arcos, Rowan Addison and Katelyn Wilson. The lone freshman is Citlaly Ramirez.
At press time the Lady Eagles were preparing for a Sept. 18 visit to Kelseyville and come home to host Fort Bragg this Thursday, Sept. 20. Both matches start at 5:30 p.m. Cloverdale travels to Clear Lake on Sept. 25 in a 4 p.m. start.
