Cloverdale visits No. 8-seeded Ferndale in tourney openerĀ
The varsity baseball Eagles were rewarded for a strong regular season on Saturday, landing the No. 9 seed in the North Coast Section Division 5 playoff tournament.
At press time the Eagles (10-11) were ready to hit the road for the NCS opener at No. 8 Ferndale (10-11) on May 14, with the victor advancing to the quarterfinals to play the winner of No. 1 Berean Christian versus No. 16 Head-Royce on May 17 (weather permitting).
ā€œGoing into the playoffs we were expecting to be an 11 seed, so weā€™re happy to be a nine seed and look forward to continuing our season,ā€ CHS coach Ben West said. ā€œWe donā€™t know much about our (first round) opponent, but thatā€™s not what is important. If we as a team make the plays that should be made and produce at the plate and on the mound, weā€™ll be successful.ā€
The complete list of NCS Division 5 teams in seeding order is: Berean Christian, St. Bernardā€™s, Athenian, The Bay School, St. Vincent, Fremont Christian, Branson, Ferndale, Cloverdale, Urban, Stuart Hall, University, Drew, International and Head-Royce.
