The varsity baseball Eagles logged their first win of the spring campaign on March 5, notching an 8-4 win over visiting Healdsburg.
The victory came on the heels of a 4-1 loss at Windsor and pushed the Eagles’ preseason record to 1-2.
Cloverdale rode the strong arm of starting pitcher Chris Harms against the Greyhounds, who fanned seven batters in six innings of work to claim the victory. Reliever Greg Scaramella, just a few days back from basketball season, closed it out in the seventh inning to preserve the win.
Top hitters for the Eagles included Pat Ojeda (3 for 4, 2 runs), Jared Hibbeln (1 for 4, 2B, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), David Watson (1 for 4, 3 runs), Scott Richardson (1 for 3, run), Angel Vega (1 for 3, 3 RBIs) and Mason Meier (RBI).
Next up for Cloverdale is a home game with visiting Elsie Allen on Friday, March 13 (4 p.m.), followed by a home date with Lick Wilmerding on Saturday, March 14 (12 p.m.). All home games are played at City Park.
