On Wednesday, Nov. 13 the CHS Girls Cross Country runners captured an NCL 1 League championship after having an undefeated season for the past two years. The team earned a first place finish in a field of 17 teams, eight from the NCL 1, eight from NCL 2 and one independent team.
“The team’s remarkable season could not have ended better as Cloverdale girls ran in a field of 81 runners and came away with a commanding first place finish. They defeated the second place team by a convincing 18 points and the margin grew considerably after that,” Coach Clint Kemp proudly commented.
At the awards ceremony, the team received a banner for winning the NCL 1 League. Three runners, Katie Edwards, third overall in the 81-runner field; Angela Romero, seventh overall and Anabelle Doyle, 10th overall, were awarded All CMC for finishing in the top 10 at the Spring Lake meet in Santa Rosa. Five ladies received All-League honors for finishing in the top 10 in the NCL 1. Honors went to Katie Edwards, Angela Romero, Anabelle Doyle, Shaylee Roberts and Ariana Fernandez. The entire team received the League Championship banner and a plaque for being the CMC champions.
