The varsity basketball Eagles reached the end of a three-month journey in the opening round of the North Coast Section Division 5 basketball playoffs on Feb. 13, falling at No. 4 Head Royce of Oakland, 56-44.
Cloverdale finished the season with an overall mark of 15-11.
The Eagles entered the NCS tourney as the No. 13 seed, perhaps an unfair spot following a strong, 9-5 league season.

The Eagles Feb. 13 visit to Head Royce was doomed from the start, as the host Jayhawks raced out to a 15-6 lead in the first quarter. Trailing by 13 at the half, Cloverdale played on even terms the rest of the way but would eventually fall, 56-44.
Center Josh Lemley turned in a great game in a remarkable sophomore campaign, finishing with a team-high 17 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and five blocks. Other top contributors included Andres Herrera (10 points, 4 assists, 2 steals), Shayne Turner (6 points, 6 rebounds), Chuche Maciel (6 points, 2 assists, 1 steal), Spencer Hoover (4 points, 2 boards, 1 steal) and Mario Lopez (1 point, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal).  Â
