Dorothy Lois Miller passed from this life on Sept. 20, 2006, at
the home of her daughter in Windsor, at the age of 84. Lois was
born in Healdsburg May 22, 1922 to Olive Rachel Maguire and Melvin
Dallas Wilson. She attended Windsor and Healdsburg schools and was
a member of the Healdsburg High School graduating class of 1940.
She was the beloved wife of the late Guerdon G. Miller, Sr. with
whom she had celebrated 60 years of marriage shortly before his
death in 2001.
Her devoted children, Penny Heitz of Windsor and Jerry Miller
and his wife Linda of Santa Rosa survive Lois. She was the proud
“Grammy” of Eric Heitz and his wife Ellen of Windsor and
Wendy Heitz and her ____ Charles Wait of Sacramento. Loving
“Great” of Brien and Sarah Heitz. Cherished aunt of Donna
Jamieson of Kelseyville, Calif. and Carla Davis of Fremont, and
also many cousins, grandnieces and nephew and friends.
Daughter Karen Susan Miller, son Dennis Michael Miller, grandson
Kevin Patrick Heitz, sister Kaye Wilson Pick and niece Jody Pick
Frantz predecease her.
Although Lois worked in Guerdon’s insurance office for a time,
her primary occupation was that of homemaker. She was a talented,
artistic, well-read, and accomplished woman who could do anything
she set her mind on, from beautiful sewing to major carpentry. Her
greatest passion, however, was genealogy. She was a proud
descendant of the pioneering Wilson family and started doing family
research long before the days of computers. She wrote family
histories of both the Wilson and Maguire families.
She was a majority member of International Rainbow for Girls,
Past Matron of Sotoyome Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Life member
of P.T.A., member of the Federated Church, charter member of the
Healdsburg Historical Society, Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girls
leader, member of the Sonoma County Genealogical Society and many
otter affiliations.
Friends and family are invited to attend graveside services
Saturday morning, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at Oak Mound Cemetery with a
reception following at Riverside Clubhouse, 206 Mt. View Dr.,
Healdsburg.
The family requests that donations in her honor be made to the
Healdsburg Museum and Historical Society P.O. Box 952, Healdsburg
Ca. 95448 or to Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa,
CA 95401.
