Daniel Patrick O’Connell IV died in Guerneville on July 9, 2007.
He was an accomplished athlete all his life; he participated in
swimming, baseball and softball leagues, and the Gay Olympics in
Eugene, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel Patrick
O’Connell, III and Catherine Jane Smith. He is survived by his
mother Judie O’Connell and his brothers and sisters Debbie, Denise,
Shannon, Lisa, Daryl, Mike, Dane and Steve, as well as many nieces
and nephews.
O’Connell was deeply committed to many charitable organizations.
His favorite two were &#8220Toys for Tots” and &#8220The
San Francisco AIDS Rides” which he participated in twice. He was a
food service professional and a favorite bartender in Guerneville
and San Francisco. His passions included animals, art, politics,
fine food and wine, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Ohio State
Buckeyes.
A celebration of O’Connell’s life will take place July 29 in
Guerneville. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to
Face to Face Sonoma County Aids Network, or to a charity of your
choice.
