The Healdsburg City Council and the Healdsburg Planning Commission will hold a joint meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. at Healdsburg City Hall. The meeting has two agenda topics:
The council and commission will discuss rapport and communication between the two bodies. The council is elected by Healdsburg voters and members of the commission are appointed by the council.
The city staff report that accompanies the meeting notice reads, in part: “The Planning Commission serves as the advisory board to the City Council on all planning and land use matters such as the general plan, zoning ordinances and land use code amendments. The Commission does not have the authority to make policy. The Commission reviews and considers planning and land use related applications and makes findings of fact and applies conditions of approval to assure consistency with the provisions of the general plan and other local plans, policies, and ordinances. The Commission also serves as the City’s Design Review Board and Historic Committee; and as needed, may act as the appellate body from Zoning Administrator determinations on entitlement decisions.”
The groups will also discuss the makeup and duties of the Community Housing Committee, which was disbanded recently. The committee’s work over the last two years was to attempt to amend the city’s growth management regulations, an effort which failed at the ballot box in November.
