Congressman Mike Thompson dropped by Windsor’s Old Downtown last
week to catch up on progress. “It reminded me of going a couple of
months without seeing my grandkids,” said Thompson. “The change is
remarkable. I just think it’s a model for other towns to follow.”
Thompson lauded the smart growth and mixed-use concepts employed in
the new development. “Everyone involved has done a spectacular job”
he said. “The people that we met downtown were all so excited about
it. I’ll be back. I want to try some of those restaurants.”
Thompson spent time talking with workers at the Town Green Village
office, walked from shop to shop along Windsor River Road and
McClelland Drive and stopped for a bite to eat at John Bagley’s
Deli. Joining Thompson on the walking tour (l-r above) were Windsor
Economic Development and Community Services Director Marla Young,
Mayor Debora Fudge and Councilmember Lynn Morehouse.
