The Healdsburg chapter of the American Association of University Women is hosting speaker Steve Campbell, who will discuss how new insights in brain science can help you transform negative thinking patterns, improve focus, and enhance problem solving. Master gardeners: Composting
The UC Master Gardener program is hosting a free composting class on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with speaker Lyle Bullock. Attendees will learn the basics of composting and why it is a vital step in successful gardening. The event will take place at the Healdsburg Library at 139 Piper St.
Wine & Food Affair: Tasting Along the Wine Road
This is the 20th anniversary of this popular wine and food pairing event in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys. It all happens on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3 and 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets: $65 to $87. Ticket holders will receive their tasting glass and wristband upon check-in.
Cider pairing workshop at SHED
Ethic Ciders will be hosting a cider-pairing event Sunday, Nov. 4, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. An array of ciders will be paired with small plates. The event will also discuss regenerative and sustainable agriculture practices used in orchards with founder Ned Lawton and orchardist and cider maker, Ryan Johnston. Tickets for the event are $75 and can be purchased at Healdsburg SHED at 25 North St. or by visiting their website at headldsburgshed.com.
Choral Evensong
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Healdsburg will be offering an evening of choral evensong for All Saints on Sunday, Nov. 4, 5 p.m., at 209 Matheson St. The service will feature psalms, canticles, and more. All are welcome to attend.
Healdsburg City Council meeting
The Healdsburg City Council will meet for their regular meeting on Monday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. at the city hall council chambers at 401 Grove St. All are welcome to attend during the open session.
Election Day
Don’t forget to vote or turn in your ballots by the end of the day. Vote by mail ballots must be turned in no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 6.
Older adults watercolor class
The Santa Rosa Junior College will host an older adults watercolor class on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Healdsburg Senior Center in room #5 at 1557 Healdsburg Ave. This is a free event.
Luminarias at SHED: John Buechsenstein
Everyone has an opinion on the controversial topic of terroir, and wine educator John Buechsenstein’s new book “Wine and Place: A Terroir Reader” is out to make sense of it all. Hear him on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 7 to 9 p.m. at Healdsburg SHED, 25 North St.
City hall open house
After a year of renovations, the new Healdsburg City Hall is now complete. In celebration of its completion, the city is hosting an open house Thursday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. City staff will lead tours of the new space, and there will be light refreshments. Meet at city hall at 401 Grove St.
