‘Souper bowl’ benefit for food pantry
EDITOR: As many of us were snacking on chicken wings, chips and guacamole during the Super Bowl, the United Church turned the occasion into a benefit for our food pantry.
On Super Bowl Sunday, congregants brought their donations of canned soup and placed them on the altar for eventual distribution to the food pantry. This “Souper Bowl” has become a tradition at UCC over the past years and we anticipate making this more community-wide in future years, involving multiple churches and other organizations.
Our food pantry is a wonderful endeavor, and something which truly helps to improve the lives of those who just need a helping hand.
