A public poll?
EDITOR: A recent editorial in the Cloverdale Reveille suggested that Cloverdale should become the low cost, low rent satellite for the rest of the county. We should be prepared for extensive building and the change that it brings.
Don’t other cities have land or is it reserved for million dollar homes? Shouldn’t Cloverdale have an opportunity for balanced housing development? Shouldn’t Cloverdale residents have input regarding the direction of the city?
Look around, new buildings everywhere. What about the environment? What about our challenged water system, a system of wells?
Once the building is completed, there is no turning back. Builders move on, and so do city officials.

In defense of President Trump
EDITOR: The Cloverdale Reveille works hard at interesting local articles. It does not, however, have a reputation for even-handed news. The July 26 Reveille edition did have an interesting and honest item. I am referring to a letter to the editor and not something written by Reveille staff.
In the letters section Brian Humphrey wrote an excellent defense of President Trump. While doing that, he corrected poorly informed people who refer to the US as a democracy. We are a Constitutional republic and not a simple democracy. Majority rule is not a good form of governance.
The President’s actions on the trade issue will produce the results for which he is hoping. You may remember the democrat prognosticators that predicted the crash of the stock market after Donald Trump won. They were 100 percent wrong but are still considered experts by the extremist left leaning media. The bias was expected but still rather sad.
For eight years we watched a president we did not like get involved in local police actions, promote racial violence, deny Islamic terrorism, tell lies that hurt American (“If you like your doctor you may keep your doctor”) and showcase scandal after scandal which were all unreported by his sycophant press friends. We did nothing violent when Obama bowed to a Muslim dictator, went on an apology tour begging forgiveness for American action, set Rules of Engagement the military hated and that put them in more danger and of course there is Benghazi (which happened on Obama’s watch).
Obama for eight years blamed every mishap that happened on the Bush administration. Now the economy is back and the stock market is jumping he is claiming credit. That man has no shame.
Like Mr. Humphrey, I am hoping for Trump’s re-election in 2020. I am also hoping the losers from the last election will remember our nonviolent actions. While the left screams tolerance and how conservatives are dividing America, they beat up a teenager who is wearing a MAGA hat. Important Democrats have called for much evil to happen to anyone who voted for President Trump. Remember not all hypocrites go to church.
