The Cloverdale Lady Eagles continued their winning ways last weekend, turning in a strong showing at the annual Kelseyville Stokes Basketball Tournament.
The ladies opened the three-day tourney on Dec. 5 against South Fork, using a hot start to forge a 32-21 lead at the half.  The Eagles maintained a double-digit advantage in the final two quarters en route to a 56-43 win.
Pacing the Cloverdale offense were Hannah Pope (12 points, 5 rebounds), Jazmin Orozco (12 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, 4 steals), Shaylee Roberts (10 points, 4 rebounds), and Angel Bernardi (9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists).
Friday’s game two pitted Cloverdale against host Kelseyville, jumping all over an unsuspecting Knight’s squad to grab an 18-1 lead at the end of one. Both teams were held to single digits in scoring in the final three quarters as the Eagles held on for a 38-22 win.
Bernardi led the attack with 18 points, four boards and five steals, while Kirsten Villavicencio chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
The victory set up a clash with Ferndale for the tournament championship on Saturday, but the Wildcats had too much firepower en route to a 51-29 win.
Pacing the Cloverdale offense were Amy Mora (6 points, 7 rebounds), and Shaylee Roberts (5 points, 2 boards).
Villavicencio and Bernardi were named to the All-Tourney team for the Eagles.
Scheduling notes
The Lady Eagles will continue a stretch of three tournaments in as many weeks when they compete in the Ukiah tourney on Dec. 12-14.
