The Cloverdale cross country team traveled to Fort Bragg for a hilly three mile race on Wednesday Oct. 19. The ladies kicked off the day with a 22-33 win against Lower Lake.
Julie Edwards placed sixth overall, finishing in a time of 25:09 with Frederike Tschernich (25:22) and Katie Edwards (26:07) close behind.
Teammates Grisselle Herrera (27:08), Sami Santana (27:58) and Cheyenne Palmer (32:17) worked together to ensure the win.
The boys had a challenging race. Due to injuries and sickness, the boys only had five runners.
Paden Collard won the race in a time of 18:04. Emmett Lawson (20:32) and Everett Conway (22:11) had outstanding finishes, edging out runners in the home stretch.
Joel Mendoza (25:21) and Finn Addison (25:49) rounded off the scoring, allowing the boys to pull of a one point win against Lower Lake. Everyone demonstrated outstanding strength and perseverance.
The cross country team will head to the Coastal Mountain Conference Championship meet on Nov. 9 after their last two dual meets in Kelseyville (Oct. 26) and Willits (Nov. 2).
