STREET CLOSURE: The city has announced an unusually long closure of a key commercial street to vehicle traffic in downtown Healdsburg for almost three full days this weekend, Aug. 26-28.
The road closure of Plaza Street, from Healdsburg Avenue to Center Street (the north side of Plaza Park) will begin Friday, Aug. 26 at 9am and continue until Sunday, Aug. 28 at 8pm (or until the roadway is clear from the event) to accommodate the Healdsburg Arts Festival, announced recreation supervisor Matt Milde on Monday.
According to their website, the arts festival plans a Culinary Arts Pavilion on Plaza Street, with multiple events over the three-day festival. This 59-hour closure of Plaza Street is unusual, and Milde said he could not think of another during his tenure with the city, since 2018.
COMMUNITY ENCUENTRO: The City of Healdsburg, in partnership with Acosta Latino Learning Partnership and Corazon Healdsburg, will be hosting an event titled “Community Encuentro (Encounter).” It is part of the council’s Effective Governance goal to develop diversity, equity and inclusion recommendations. Residents are encouraged to join the bilingual conversations about how the City can embrace the voices of all residents who live here.
The “Community Encuentro” will be held on Monday, Aug. 29, at the Healdsburg Library at 139 Piper St.
CITY COUNCIL MEETING: The next meeting of the Healdsburg City Council will be on Tuesday, Sept. 6, due to the closure of city offices on Monday, Labor Day. The meeting begins at 6pm at City Hall Council Chamber, 401 Grove St., and is also carried live on Zoom. The agenda has not yet been published.
