The Healdsburg City Council on Monday approved the creation of a
budget task force that will provide the governing body with
additional input and feedback about potential cuts to the 2010-2011
budget.
City councilmember Eric Ziedrich, who served as Mayor in 2009,
raised the issue when the council was looking at having to take
“some severe actions,” he said.
“I raised the issue, whether the council might want to establish
an advisory board that could assist us in considerations we were
making then in order to provide a more in depth analysis and act as
a conduit to the community,” Ziedrich said.
The task force will begin meeting in March for a training
session and will spend March 29 through April 10 performing a
budget review.
The city council will have two representatives, Ziedrich and
Councilmember Gary Plass, as well as a representative from the
public sector (a board member of another governing body such as the
school board or hospital board), a representative from the Chamber
of Commerce, two citizens at large, and a city employee. The group
will be led by City Manager Marjie Pettus and Finance Director
Heather Ippoliti.
