On Monday night, the Healdsburg City Council will hear a report on a possible second home tax, which has been proposed by city councilmember Leah Gold. The staff report that will be presented indicates that such a tax would be difficult, but not impossible, to assess. The council will not make a final decision on a tax, but will discuss it in open session and hear comments from the public.
The city council will also discuss a proposal to create a “complete streets” plan for Healdsburg Avenue, from Powell Avenue to Parkland Farms Boulevard. The $437,010 contract would be to study and design how to make that stretch of the Avenue safer and more attractive to bicyclists and pedestrians without sacrificing vehicle efficiency.
The council will also hear a report on meetings the city staff has had with Sonoma County Transit in response to concerns that the current transit system is not flexible and convenient for the elderly and disabled.
