Cloverdale varsity softball and baseball teams continued to roll on the league diamond this week, combining for three wins in five outings.
The Lady Eagles remained unbeaten on the year with lopsided softball wins over Middletown (13-1) and Redwood Christian (10-0) to push their record to 3-0 in league and 6-0 overall.
The ladies will be back on the field with upcoming games at St. Helena (April 17, after press time) and home versus Lower Lake this Friday, April 20 (4 p.m.). Cloverdale will host Clear Lake next Tuesday, April 24 (4 p.m.).

Cloverdale will resume action at St. Helena on April 17, followed by a home clash with Lower Lake this Friday, April 20 (4 p.m.). The Eagles play host to Clear Lake on April 24 (4 p.m.).
Ladies on a roll
The Lady Eagles made short work of both opponents last week, starting with a dominant road win at Middletown on April 13. Cloverdale staked winning pitcher Tehya Bird (7 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 12 Ks) to an early 5-0 lead and iced the contest in a seven-run fourth en route to a 13-1 rout.
Pacing the Eagles’ offense were Lane Hughes (3 for 4, run, 3 RBIs), Heather Sterling (3 for 4, run, 2 RBIs), Bird (2 for 2, 3 runs, RBI), Aly Bernal (2 for 3, run, RBI), Janaye Hammond (2 for 3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Vanessa Fisher (1 for 4, 2 RBIs), Nicky Martinez (1 for 3, run, RBI and Angelina Cordova (1 for 2, 2 runs).
It was more of the same in an April 14 non-league home clash with Redwood Christian, scoring multiple runs in four of six innings to force an early stoppage after six in a 10-0 shellacking.
Bird (6 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, 8 Ks) claimed her sixth win, while top hitters included Sterling (4 for 4, 3 runs, RBI), Bird (2 for 2, 2B, HR, 3 runs, RBI), Hammond (2 for 3, run), Cordova (2 for 4, 2 RBIs), Fisher (2 for 4, 2 RBIs), Martinez (1 for 4, run) and Hughes (1 for 4, run, 2 RBIs).
Baseballers notch ‘W’
The Eagles opened a busy stretch with an April 9 visit to Kelseyville, with one bad inning sabotaging an otherwise solid game. The Knights erupted for nine runs in the fateful second, holding off a late Cloverdale rally en route to a 12-8 win.
Collin Patterson (1.1 IP, 2 hits, 4 ERs, 2 Ks) took the loss, while Tucker Morgan (.1 IP, 1 hit, 3 runs) and Keller Sibert (4.1 IP, 4 hits, ER, 2 Ks) also pitched for the Eagles. Top hitters included James Wirt (3 for 4, 3 runs), Patterson (2 for 4, HR, run, 3 RBIs), Sibert (2 for 4), Drew Edens (2 for 4, RBI), BJ Grady (1 for 2), Josh Lemley (1 for 4, run), Kamrin Mitchell (1 for 4), Ben Paine (1 for 2, run) and Jacob Sullivan (1 for 1, run).
The Eagles jumped on visiting Fort Bragg for eight runs in the first two innings on April 10 and pitchers James Wirt (2 IP, 3 hits, 2 ERs, K) and Dylan Scaramella (5 IP, 5 hits, 3 ERs, 8 Ks) held off a Timberwolves’ comeback in an eventual 9-8 win. Swinging hot bats were Edens (2 for 3, 2B, 3 RBIs), Lemley (1 for 4), Mitchell (1 for 3), Morgan (1 for 4, RBI), Paine (1 for 3) and Scaramella (1 for 3, RBI).
The Eagles closed out the stretch with an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel on Friday at Middletown, with Mitchell (3.2 IP, 2 hits, 2 ERs, 5 Ks) and Sibert (3 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs, 3 Ks) keeping their team in the game until the end. The game was locked in a scoreless tie through six innings until the Mustangs pushed across the winning run in their last at-bat to walk off with a 1-0 victory.
Hitting safely for Cloverdale were Edens (1 for 3), Grady (1 for 3), Lemley (1 for 3) and Morgan (1 for 2).
