Team will compete in Coastal Mountain Championships Nov. 22
The CHS Girls Cross Country Team outran St. Helena to complete its third year in the North Coast Section 1, without a loss. “That’s 21 wins and 0 losses,” commented coach Clint Kemp.
The girls defeated St. Helena soundly, as they have with most of their opponents, with six runners crossing the finish before any of their opponents. Katie Edwards and Angela Romero were the number one and two finishers, with the same finishing time of 20:17. Anabelle Doyle was third with 21:44. Liliana Ramos was eighth with 24:31. Freshman Sami Santana finished 12th in the 26-runner field as she continues to improve each week.
The Varsity Boys team defeated the host St. Helena boys with a convincing score of 24 to 34. The team was led by Emmett Lawson’s fifth place time of 19:13 and Nick Schneider’s 10th place time of 20:11. Sophomore Juan Gutierrez and freshmen; Everett Conway, Derick Rilea and Tyler Wanke all scored and the team picked up its third win of the year.
Adrian Zavala, with a time of 21:50, Joel Mendoza with 21:55 and Lucus Alhborn with 24:11 ran as an incomplete team in the Boys J.V. race. To get a team score there must be at least five runners.
The team will compete at Middletown on Wednesday, Nov.22 in the Coastal Mountain Championships meet, with the first race starting at 1 p.m.
