Catharine Anita (Brennan) Barrett was born at home in San
Francisco’s Noe Valley, on Jan. 23, 1915. Catharine Brennan Barrett
died peacefully at home in Healdsburg on Nov. 25, 2007. Catharine
grew up in San Francisco, Married Richard “Dick” Barrett, and
together they raised six children in the city. Catharine also had a
lifelong relationship with Sonoma County where she vacationed as a
child every summer at Camp Meeker, ferrying across the San
Francisco Bay and taking two trains from Sausalito to the redwood
grove retreat. Later on, she and Dick vacationed on the Russian
River at Guerneville before discovering Healdsburg where they spent
their free time for more than twenty years before they retired
there in 1973. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick
(1992), daughters, Sheila Schultz (1985), and Judie Lawrence
(1995). Catharine is survived by her only son, Rick Barrett (Gayle
Kutach), and daughters, Patricia (Gerald) Arrigoni, Dolores Barrett
(Richard Baril), and Teresa Barrett (John Cota), and son-in-law,
Larry Lawrence. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. The family would like to acknowledge the love
and assistance of Catharine’s caregiver, Lili King, whose gracious
and attentive care made Catharine’s final years ones of grace,
peace and comfort. We are truly honored by her presence in our
lives. The Family held private memorial and burial services in
Healdsburg.
