Corazón Healdsburg, a nonprofit serving the community of Healdsburg by bridging racial and economic divides through innovative programs, together with Comité Pochtlán, announced the Carnaval y Féria de Salud event will be held on Sunday, April 7 from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at the Healdsburg Community Center.
Carnaval y Féria de Salud is a family-friendly event that embraces the Putla Villa de Guerrero Oaxacan culture and celebrates Cesar Chavez and the farmworkers rights movement.
Activities for all ages will include arts and crafts, traditional Oaxacan food and dancers, a Zumba demonstration, Lotería (Mexican Bingo), live music by the Tornado Show band and a special guest appearance from Basurita the Clown.
A variety of local organizations will be in attendance to provide information and tips on healthy living and wellness including, the Healdsburg Farmers Market, Alliance Medical Center, PDI dental, city of Healdsburg and Sonoma County Regional Parks.
“Carnaval y Féria de Salud is one of our favorite new events,” said Corazón founder Ari Rosen. “Centered on health and wellness, the day promotes bridging community and honoring the hardworking families of Healdsburg. Our community is largely sustained by agriculture and those of Oaxacan descent — and it is important for us to embrace and preserve that heritage for future generations.”
