A body was found in Foss Creek near the 800 block of Healdsburg Avenue just after 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 18.
The male subject has not been identified at this time and Healdsburg police are awaiting the coroner’s report to help identify the subject and his cause of death.  No identification was found on the body.
The body was reported to the police by a passerby.
Sgt. Luis Rodriguez, a 15 year veteran of HPD, was one of the officers who responded. He said the death does not appear suspicious at this time and there were no signs of trauma on the body, which would suggest violence.
“Any time you’re dealing with death, it affects you,” Rodriguez said of the call.
Police training, he added, helps them document the investigation into how the body got there and how he died, and that officers were documenting “as much as we can” to attempt to illuminate facts that may not be what they seem on first glance.
