William “Bill” Joseph Sullivan, 84, of Sebastopol, died on Jan.
11. Born in San Francisco to Ernest and Marion Sullivan, he worked
as a messenger for Bank of America. In 1941 he was drafted and
served in Burma and China. He returned home in ’46 and went back to
work for Bank of America, where he met his wife, Myrtle. He became
chief inspector and after assignments that took him to Santa Rosa
and Petaluma he was promoted in 1970 to manager of the new
Sebastopol branch. He was the first recipient of the Northern
California Outstanding Management award in ’76 and retired in 1985.
He also served as president of the Petaluma Kiwanis and Sebastopol
Rotary. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, daughter Kathleen
Klegerman and her husband, Barry, his grandson Samuel, his sister
Marianne Colombo and her husband, Angelo and many nieces and
nephews. He was brother to the late Katherine Dougherty and her
husband, Glen. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 17
at St. Sebastian’s in Sebastopol. Donations in his memory can be
made to the Palm Drive Health Care Foundation.
