State Sen. Liz Figueroa, candidate for the Democratic nomination
for California Lt. Governor, will be the keynote speaker at a
benefit reception for the Coalition for a Better Sonoma County this
Thursday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa
Rosa. As the daughter of Salvadoran parents, she was the first
Northern California Latina to be elected to the Legislature. This
is the first event sponsored by the Coalition since it was formed
in 2002 to support and elect candidates for elected office in
Sonoma County. The Coalition’s principles include support for a
living wage, affordable housing for all income levels, smart and
sustainable growth, public transportation including trail and bike
systems, limits on campaign spending and giving minorities a voice

Living History at Sebastopol cemetery
The Western Sonoma County Historical Society will present a
Living History Tour of the city’s historical cemetery on Friday,
Oct. 10 (full moon) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and
