Bernard Charles Neider Jr. passed away peacefully on December 8,
2002 at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife of 29 years
Purita, his children Maria, Jacob, and Benjamin, sisters Sr. Janet
M. Neider and Regina Evans, and many other loving family members.
Bernard was born in Youngwood, Pennsylvania. He graduated in 1956
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University
of Pittsburgh but decided to pursue a career in aviation. He served
eight years as a U.S. Navy lieutenant and aviator, including time
in Vietnam. Ben continued to fly as a commercial pilot, dedicating
over 20 years of his life to service with Pan American Airlines. A
hardworking farmer and carpenter, he moved to Healdsburg in 1976
and planted Healdsburg Country Vineyards off of Westside Road. Ben
and Purita moved to Tuscon, Arizona three years ago to enjoy their
retirement in the warmth and beauty of the desert. Ben’s wisdom,
guidance and sense of humor will be missed by all who loved him.
