Throughout the school year, the Windsor Times will name a male and female athlete of the week.
Piotter a potent weapon in lacrosse
Sophomore midfielder Elka Piotter is at the core of a lacrosse renaissance at Windsor, leading a group of underclassmen on a talented girls team. A second-year varsity starter, Piotter has been nothing short of sensational in the first month of the season, helping the Lady Jaguars to a fast, 5-0 start. The super sophomore continued her offensive assault in a March 14 clash with visiting Petaluma, blistering the net for a hat trick with three goals en route to a 7-4 victory.
McLaughlin on a roll for track team
Junior track and field standout Casey McLaughlin has been a man on a mission for the Jaguars in the early stages of preseason, emerging among the top jumpers in the Redwood Empire. McLaughlin followed up a strong performance at the North Coast Extravaganza meet a week earlier with another great effort at the Santa Rosa Jamboree on March 17, taking second in the Long Jump and placing third in the High Jump and Triple Jump in an outstanding overall showing.
